Great Taste Awards 2024

We are thrilled to announce that our Smoked Duck Breast has won 3 shiny gold stars at The Great Taste Awards 2024. This will be our Smoked Duck’s 12th Great Taste Award in total!

Only 1.9% of entries won the prestigious 3-star award this year so we are feeling extremely proud.

Not only has our Smoked Duck won the three stars, but it has been nominated for a Golden Fork Award a.k.a the “Oscars of the food world”! We are very excited to attend the awards ceremony in London later this year and will be sure to update you on how we get on.

Here are some of the lovely words about our Smoked Duck Breast from The Great Taste Judges:

This is a very tidy, great-looking duck breast that yields well to the knife. It is beautifully tender and pillowy in terms of mouth-feel, with a superlative taste. The skin is delicious, the meat stunning, and the overall balance and smokiness came together like magic. An amazing accomplishment in a cold cut … and we’d very much like to take it home with us. Well done!

The plump, attractive duck breast has an enticing pink blush and a distinct oak smoked aroma. The texture is divine, moist and melts in the mouth. The balance of the cure and smoke is well-judged to enhance the clean flavour of the duck. This shows great finesse. It really is as good as it gets – simple, pure and all about the duck.

We also entered our Peppered Oak Roasted Salmon this year and we are delighted to announce that it has also won a Great Taste Award!

This is a generous chunk of salmon with an appealing caramelised gloss and a generous sprinkling of peppercorns over the crust. There is a delightfully inviting oak-smoked aroma and the texture is firm yet the fish holds its shape well and flakes beautifully when cut. The even smoke goes all the way through to the finish without being overpowering and the pepper adds just enough bite without being harsh. Perfect for a dinner party or picnic and highly presentable. 

You’ll notice that not every product wins an award every year, this is because we only submit products for judging on a 3-year cycle or when their previous award is considered expired.

The lovely thing about entering The Great Taste Awards is that it proves the consistent quality of our Gourmet Smoked Foods. We are proud to be able to call ourselves Great Taste Producers.
